Bedtime woes

Why can't bedtime just go smoothly? You know: pj's, brush teeth, story, then lay down quietly and go to sleep. Seriously, I think they save all the questions of the day - including those existential and basically unanswerable questions - until bedtime simply to drive me batty. Realistically, I know they'll attempt anything just to stay up longer.
